Didier Cuche wins the first GS of the season
Swiss ski-hero Didier Cuche has won the first World Cup Grand Slalom event of the season. Hos time was 2 mins 21.45 sec. Cuche trailed Amercan Ted Ligety by just 0.01 of a second up until the final check-point of his second run but then just pipped his time on the final flat.
The ever modest Cuche said that "he was helped by his start number on the 1st run", however for his 2nd run he admitted that he had fight more "as the snow had changed so much". By the time Cuche took his 2nd run, temps on the Glacier had increased to 12 degrees C.
When primed to comment on the secret of his success Cuche simply mentioned that he did some good training the week before in Saas Fee.
This is the 10th World Cup win for Didier Cuche at Solden
The current World Cup curcuit will resume on the Nov 14 in Finland with the men and womens slalom
